Celery is one of those produce items I always end up throwing out. Each recipe only calls for a few stalks, so I always have extra celery sitting in the fridge until it’s ready to be thrown out. So, the solution?
Freeze extra celery!
I cut up my extra celery, put it in freezer bags, label and store in my freezer. It makes the perfect addition to soups, rice, stuffing- basically any recipe that calls for celery. Just throw it in straight from the freezer. It’ll thaw quickly as your dish is cooking.
I also plan on doing this with extra pepper, carrots, or really any veggie that is about to be tossed out. No more waste!
What do you usually do with leftover celery?
Until next time,

that is so smart! I always feel terrible about the produce I throw out.
I recently discovered your blog and your tips are great. thanks!
Thanks to you for reading! I also hate throwing food out!
No such thing. It’s so good I can just eat it as is. 🙂
I knew there had to be people who liked eating celery as is! I don’t mind a piece or two, but it’s really not my go to snack. I also tried to get my kids into it, but they were not interested. Oh how I wish I liked healthy snacks!
This is a great idea! I like celery in my chicken soup but dont buy it because I end up throwing out 3/4 of it.
Same here! Now I don’t mind buying it and use it in my soups.
