12 Months to a Healthier You is a monthly challenge I’ve decided to take on. By taking on small challenges every month I’m hoping to make lifelong changes in the way I live.
Summer has officially begun! Weather is hot and sweaty, no more coats or sweaters and we’re stocking up on ice pops!
As a reminder, here are this year’s focus areas:
12 Months to a Healthier You

July: Read More
August: Go to Bed Earlier

June Goal: Create a Morning Routine
Since we all leave the house pretty early every morning we already have a pretty efficient morning routine in place. Wake up, get dressed, eat breakfast and get out of the house.
My goal this month is to continue this routine, but in a much calmer way.
- Wake up a few minutes earlier
- Have lunches all prepped and ready to go the night before
- Find all kids shoes the night before (this has taken up quite a few precious morning minutes!)
- Have my outfit picked out the night before- it’s been taking me way too long to get dressed in the morning!
These are just a few ideas that come to mind.
Past Months In Review
May: Get More Rest- This hasn’t been as easy as I thought it would be. I really wanted to try and get to bed earlier, but it seems like there’s always something that comes up and needs my attention. I have tried to take advantage of down-time and nap/rest a bit more, but I’m still more tired than I’d like to be. I’ll keep working on this!
April: Cut Back on Sugar- yeah…. like I discussed last month, this isn’t something I’m working really hard on. Too hard! And with Shavuos and my craving for cheesecake… not happening.
March: Drink More Water- I finally got myself a nice water bottle to keep on my desk at work. I’ve really been drinking a lot! Here’s the proof:
It’s all blinged out, but really makes drinking water a treat! Much more enjoyable than using paper coffee cups from the pantry.
February: Eat More Fresh Fruits & Veggies- I’ve gotten really into roasting veggies. And now with nectarines, peaches and melons in season, I’m really trying to snack healthier.
January: Exercise Regularly- The weather has been great, which gives me no excuse to take the train. I’ve been walking as part of my work commute and it feels really great. I hope I can continue this even when the weather is not as great.
So, as you can see, these challenges have been exactly that- challenges! I’m not giving up!!
In which ways would you improve your morning routine?
Until next time,
Shaindy
