Next week is yeshiva winter vacation. I’ve already heard from DS2 that he has 2 friends going on airplanes. We’ll try to plan some fun day trips, but in this family- there will be no airplane involved. Not this year.
I don’t feel pressured to keep up with what others are doing for vacation, but I do want my kids to go back to school feeling that they had a lot of fun. We’ll take them to museums and to visit family. I think that at their young ages they will enjoy it. We’ll see what happens when they get older.
To kick-off the vacation, DH is planning (and cooking!) the entire Shabbos menu.
Here’s what we’re having:
Friday night:
- Chicken soup with matza balls
- Meatballs
- Rice
- Carrot kugel
Shabbos lunch:
- Gefilte fish
- Schnitzel
- Potato kugel
- Homemade Chummus
Have a good Shabbos!
What do you do in order to avoid feeling the pressure of keeping up with what everyone else is doing for vacation?
Until next time,
Shaindy
