I hate commuting and commuting hates me. I really never seem to have any luck with it. On the days I decide to take the train, there are train delays. On the days I decide to take the bus there is so much traffic that I probably should’ve stayed home – or taken the train.
In preparation for my bad and sometimes very long commutes I try to always make sure to charge my phone the night before and if I have to I charge it again at work for the way home.
I don’t really play games on my phone, but I started writing my blog posts on long bus rides and I take care of emails on the train. I read books, catch up on other people’s blogs, and try to make the best use of my time, but it just isn’t always possible. Sometimes I just really don’t want to be there, so I’ll text DH and complain to him like a 5 year old. I’m not perfect.
I think the commute takes and extra toll on me especially since I know I can’t stay late at work and have to be home for the kids. I cannot miss my train or spend an extra hour in traffic. And when it happens there’s just nothing I can do about it.
Do you have a long commute? How do you stay calm when things don’t go your way?
Until next time,
Shaindy
I used to have a long commute. Now I do half my work at my child’s preschool and the other half at a daycare less than 5 min away. My Child’s preschool is less than 5 min away. I love being so close but sometimes I miss the commute. There is no time to transition and I used to use the commute time to listen to something on the Parsha: now I have trouble finding time. I just run from one job to the other. BH’m. I’m very happy with my work; just the flip side ;-),.
Lol, I totally hear that! The grass is always greener on the other side!
