My Favorites: Clothing

After a few months of working from home full-time I decided it was time to invest in a few casual pieces of clothing. Until this point I had been wearing the same 2 black skirts, because those were the only casual skirts I owned! Even though I’m home doesn’t mean I can’t feel put together! I also had to replace my old pilled hats and wanted some fun new accessories.

Let’s start with the basics:

Skirts

These are stretchy, elastic-waisted, and oh so comfortable. I sized up so that they were a bit looser around the backside.

Boots

These are not all new items in my wardrobe, but wanted to share them because I love them.

  1. I bought brown boots because I realized that when it’s really cold outside I need something tall to cover my legs and warm them up. These are a bit on the bulkier side, bit are super comfortable and the price was right.
  2. These are great snow boots. I purposely bought slip on boots so they’re easy to put on and take off. I find that when it’s snowing there is snow that can fall into the boots, because they are not closed tightly against my legs. They are still great for shoveling and my toes stay warm and dry when I wear them. The bottoms are super durable and are not slippery. I think they look cute too!
  3. My rainboots are good for those rainy summer days. I ordered them after a few days of waiting for the train in the rain and my feet getting sopping wet. Of course once I ordered them it didn’t rain for the rest of the summer, but at least I’m prepared now.
  4. These booties are my all-time favorite. I used to wear them to work all the time – I’m on my second pair. They are waterproof and look good with everything.

Leggings

I’m not going to work and with winter here I am wearing boots when I go out, so don’t see the need to wear tights. Instead, I ordered this 7-pack of black leggings. They keep me warm and are easy to wash. I even put them in the dryer. I pair these with my skirts, sports socks, and my boots and I’m ready to go without feeling shleppy.

Scarves

1 / 2 / 3

I wrote last winter that I was doing scarves… I bought that nice large scarf, but didn’t wear it too often. It was too big and bulky, but since I like the idea of wearing scarves to jazz up an outfit, I found these light-weight scarves. They still keep me warm, and I figured that I could wear them in the summer on my head. I love items that serve all seasons!

Bags

1 / 2 / 3

Before Covid days I only used a pocketbook when we went on vacation. Otherwise I’d use my work bag or just my wallet that had a phone pocket and crossbody strap. Now that I’m working from home full time my work bag was too big, while my wallet was too small. I decided to buy a Baggalini bag for everyday (#2) and a small phone size bag for my walks (#1). The larger bag fits a small wallet, keys, hand sanitizer, and phone. The smaller bag stores my headphones and doesn’t fit much more than my phone, which is what I wanted.

I also decided it was time to upgrade my work bag (#3). I had done some travelling for business and wanted something a bit more presentable than what I had. Glad I purchased this one- I love all the pockets and it looks a lot sharper than what I was using.

I love these bags. They look nice, are durable, and light-weight. I bought the bags on Macys.com, but links are to Amazon. Definitely shop around because I paid a lot less than the current Amazon price.

Glasses

Years ago I discovered Zenni, but only bought a pair of sunglasses. This year I decided to treat myself to a few new pairs of glasses. Ordering glasses without trying them on is not ideal, but at these prices, I think it was worth it. Some glasses didn’t work so well for me, but others did and I’m glad I was able to try out all different styles.

What have you been wearing while working from home?

Until next time,
Shaindy
