Why My Menus Are So Simple and Why I Post Them

Guys! I could hardly believe some of the feedback I got from my super simple Simchas Torah menu (we only had 2-3 items at each meal + challah). While some loved it others were in complete shock over how simple it was.

To answer a few questions:

  1. Yes, that really is all the food we had
  2. No, no one went hungry

The purpose of posting my super simple menu was to show you that there really is no need for tons of food choices and elaborate menus. We work full time! No time to patchke! I don’t know about you, but I had to work Erev Yom Tov until 5pm.

As a side point, DH and I are trying to eat healthy. For me this means that I don’t want a lot of food options on my table or else I will eat each and every item. I don’t have self-control when it comes to yummy cuisine, so limiting the options on our table works for me. Most of America is overweight… I don’t have to join them just because I’m religious.

And for the record, we had a ton of leftovers. Enough to feed the entire family for one night and enough to make 2 days of lunch for myself.

So, who is with me? Am I the only one that can feel the Shabbos and Yom Tov atmosphere in my home without a ton of food?

Until next time,
Shaindy
